BasicsBasics

Welcome!! Some basic rules for staying at Pelican’s Perch:

The front door is stiff, but needs to be to seal. Just push (or pull) hard to close it.

The water quality on St Simons is safe, but most people say that it doesn’t taste very good. The water in the fridge door is filtered, but the main kitchen sink is not. There is a water filter system provided in the fridge if you want to filter the water for drinking

Pelican’s Perch needs a sewage pump system because we are so close to sea level. Please do not flush feminine products or other solid items down the toilet or other drains.

Trash will be taken care of for you when you check out. If you want to take out any smelly trash, it can be taken down to the car port and placed in the large trash can with the black lid. Any recycling can be placed in the car port cans with the blue lids. There are new trash bags under the kitchen sink.

There are spare towels under the bathroom sink, and spare sheets under the bed if you need them. You are also welcome to contact Peter & Carson who can help if you need it.

Cooling (& Heating)Cooling (& Heating)

The thermostat is located behind the bathroom door. When you arrive, it should be set to Auto, as indicated by the indicator on the left above the temperature (similar to a modified recycling logo). However, the temperature cannot be adjusted in Auto.

If you wish to adjust the temp, press the Mode button. Air conditioning uses a snowflake icon, and cycle to the sun icon for heat, though they look a little similar.

StovetopStovetop

The induction stovetop provides full control for cooking, though with touch controls that may not be familiar. To start, touch the power button at the right edge of the controls:

You will see a dashed line by the controls for each heating element.

You must first place the pan on the element, then touch the selector for the appropriate side. The dashed line will first show 0, and then select the desired power.

If you try to select power on a burner without a pan on it, the stovetop will not turn on as a safety measure. It will display an E (for error) as a warning that a pan has not been sensed.

There is a lock function if needed because the buttons are being touched accidentally. Touch and hold the key symbol next to the power button. The timer will display Lo (for Locked) and the light will appear above the key. Touch and hold the key button to unlock.
